HC Deb 22 June 1931 vol 254 c39
76. Mr. WHITE

asked the Postmaster-General the average cost per call to telephone subscribers of all telephone calls made, trunk and toll calls being excepted?

Mr. ATTLEE

The average call fee per effective local call (i.e., a call to an exchange within a radius of seven and a-half miles, or in certain cases beyond that radius) is 1.02d. to the originating subscriber and nil to the called subscriber, or an average of 51d. per participant. No charge is made for ineffective calls.
