HC Deb 22 July 1931 vol 255 c1479
37. Sir N. G RATTAN-DOYLE

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether any enclosure has been set apart in Hyde Park for the purpose of instruction in swimming; and whether there are any, and what, conditions attached to the use of such enclosure?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Lansbury)

I have accepted an offer to provide free instruction in swimming and a portion of the bathing enclosure at the Serpentine has been set apart for the purpose. The only conditions laid down are that the incidental expenditure shall he borne by the promoters and that any directions given by the police or park officials shall be observed.
