HC Deb 11 February 1931 vol 248 cc387-8
32. Mr. HORRABIN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any information with regard to the intentions of the Kenya Government as to the reintroduction of Income Tax in Kenya; and whether His Majesty's Government is considering the step of requiring such reintroduction to be effected?

Dr. SHIELS

No, Sir. But as soon as may be after his assumption of the government of Kenya, the new Governor, who is now on the way to East Africa, will go carefully into the general question of the incidence and yield of nonnative and native taxation, and he will then report on the subject to my Noble Friend.
