HC Deb 11 February 1931 vol 248 c387
31. Mr. HORRABIN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has yet found it possible to ask the Government of Kenya for a list of the ordinances, regulations, etc., in which any distinction is drawn, either as regards duties or penalties, between European and African inhabitants of the Colony?

Dr. SHIELS

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave on the 26th November last to a question by my hon. Friend the Member for Elland (Mr. Buxton). It will be seen from that reply, of which I am sending a copy to my hon. Friend, that a comprehensive dispatch is expected from the Acting Governor of Kenya, which will indicate any amendments which may appear to be desirable in the legislation of Kenya in order to bring it into strict conformity with the native policy laid down in the Memorandum presented by my Noble Friend to Parliament as a Command Paper last June.
