§ 17. Rear-Admiral SUETERasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether his attention has been drawn to the desirability of developing a second aerodrome at Safi, Malta; if he is aware that steps have already been made to divert the roads for this purpose; and whether provision will be made in the 1932–33 Air Estimates for completing this aerodrome without interruption?
§ Sir P. SASSOONMy Noble Friend is fully alive to the desirability of providing a second aerodrome in Malta and proposals for the selection and acquisition of a site have been for some time 1846 under consideration; it has not been possible, however, on financial grounds to proceed further with these proposals. I am not in a position to anticipate future Air Estimates, but in view of the need for stringent economy, I fear that there is little prospect of funds being available for the provision of a second aerodrome at Malta during the coming financial year.
