HC Deb 30 October 1930 vol 244 c191
33. Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Minister of Health if his attention has been called to the action of any municipalities in building shops on their new housing estates; whether his consent has been asked to this policy; if so, by what towns; and what has been his reply in every case?

Mr. GREENWOOD

Section 107 (1) of the Housing Act, 1925, empowers local authorities, with the consent of the Minister of Health, to provide and maintain shops on their housing estates. I regret it is not readily possible to provide the information sought in the latter parts of the question.
