HC Deb 28 May 1930 vol 239 c1290
45. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Prime Minister when the Trade Disputes Bill will be presented; and whether it is proposed to take the Second Reading before Whitsuntide?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

As regards the first part of the question, I can add nothing to what has already been said in reply to questions on this subject. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.

Captain P. MACDONALD

What has become of the definite pledge at the last Election that this would be one of the first Measures introduced by the Government?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Will the right hon. Gentleman state shortly what is the gist of these various answers that he has previously given on the subject?

The PRIME MINISTER

Exactly what I have given just now.

Mr. CHURCHILL

The right hon. Gentleman said he had nothing to add to the various answers he had already given on the subject. I ask him if he could translate that into what he is actually going to do.

The PRIME MINISTER

That is my consistency.

Sir LAMING WORTHINGTON-EVANS

Then the formula is that nothing plus nothing is nothing.
