HC Deb 28 May 1930 vol 239 cc1289-90
44. Captain CROOKSHANK

asked the First Commissioner of Works when the carillon now in Hyde Park is to be removed?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Lansbury)

I understand that the building at Wellington, New Zealand, on which the carillon is to be permanently erected, will not be ready to receive the carillon as soon as was expected, and I have, therefore, acceded to a request that the carillon be allowed to remain in Hyde Park until September next.

Rear-Admiral BEAMISH

Will the right hon. Gentleman also arrange to have a lament played for the Labour result in Nottingham?

Mr. FREEMAN

Will a new carillon be installed when this is removed?

Mr. LANSBURY

No, Sir.
