HC Deb 26 May 1930 vol 239 c807
47. Viscount WOLMER

asked the Prime Minister whether in his arrangements for the business of this House during the remainder of the Session he has reserved any days for legislation concerning agriculture?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Philip Snowden)

The Noble Lord may be aware that it is hoped that the Land Drainage Bill will be sent down from another place in the course of a few days. It is the intention of the Government to give the House an opportunity of considering this Bill as soon as possible after the Whitsun Recess.

Viscount WOLMER

Does the right hon. Gentleman mean to say that land drainage is the sole subject of the Government's agricultural programme?

Mr. SNOWDEN

I meant to say exactly what I did say.

Mr. ALBERY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Land Drainage Bill is calculated to make farming pay?
