§ 37. Mr. GRAHAM WHITEasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies when he expects to receive a further Report upon the efforts of the Government of Hong Kong to bring about the total abolition of the mui-tsai system and the liberation of the mui-tsais; and whether such Report, when received, will be published?
§ Dr. SHIELSMy Noble Friend has asked the Governor of Hong Kong to report after six months' experience of the working of the new Measures which came into operation on the 1st December. The question of publication will be considered when the Report has been received.
