HC Deb 16 April 1930 vol 237 cc2891-2
37. Mr. L. SMITH

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air the number of aerodromes now in existence in this country, dividing them into State-owned, municipal-owned, and private-owned; and indicating which of the English and Welsh counties are without any?

Mr. MONTAGUE

As regards the first part of the question, the lumber of licensed civil aerodromes in Great Britain and Northern Ireland is 127, of which five are State-owned, five are municipal-owned and 117 are privately-owned. In addition, there are 48 Royal Air Force aerodromes. As regards the second part, all the counties of Wales, except Flint, and the following counties of England are without aerodromes: Cumberland, Westmorland, Shropshire, Rutland, Huntingdonshire, Monmouthshire, Herefordshire and Cornwall.
