HC Deb 16 April 1930 vol 237 c2891
36. Mr. LOUIS SMITH

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air the number and precise position of mooring masts in any part of the world suitable for anchoring R 100 and R 101; and whether any further masts are being constructed in Canada in view of the projected flight to that country?

Mr. MONTAGUE

As regards the first part of the question, four mooring masts have been erected for the express purpose of mooring R 100 and R 101. They are situated, respectively, in this country, at Cardington; in Egypt, on the Suez Canal, 2½ miles from Ismailia; in India, 10 miles from Karachi; and in Canada, at St. Hubert, four miles from Montreal. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
