HC Deb 29 November 1928 vol 223 c587
42. Mr. RENTOUL

asked the Minister of Health whether any figures were supplied by his Department to the hon. Member for Cheltenham with regard to the effects of the rating scheme; and whether he can state these figures to the House?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The only figures furnished by my Department as regards the Borough of Cheltenham are those contained in Cmd. 3227.

Mr. BENN

Is it accurate to say, as the hon. Member for Cheltenham (Sir W. Preston) stated publicly, that the hon. Member made three visits to the Ministry of Health, that he was told what he described as "the old story," and that there were mistakes in arithmetic when finally a reply was forthcoming?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have nothing to add to the replies which I have given.

Mr. SPEAKER

The last reply given by the right hon. Gentleman was absolutely conclusive.
