HC Deb 20 December 1928 vol 223 c3212
43. Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will consider a revision of the present system of rendering telephone accounts and issue them to subscribers monthly instead of quarterly; and whether he is aware that the adoption of a system of monthly accounts in Canada has led to a great increase in the number of telephone users in that Dominion?

Viscount WOLMER

Monthly accounts mean monthly payments, which I do not think would be welcomed by the majority of telephone subscribers in this country.

Sir A. HOLBROOK

Does the Noble Lord think that monthly payments would afford subscribers a better chance of checking their accounts?

Viscount WOLMER

No, Sir; I do not think it would.
