asked the Minister of Labour the number of miners signing the register at the Employment Exchanges in Scotland on 30th March, 1928?

Mr. BETTERTON

The number of insured persons classified as belonging to the coal-mining industry on the registers of Employment Exchanges in Scotland at 26th March, 1928, was 18,389.

7. Mr. WESTWOOD

asked the Minister of Labour the number of miners who were registered as unemployed in Stirlingshire and Mid and East Lothian, respectively, on 31st December, 1924, 1925, and 1926, and the last date in 1928 for which figures are available?
