HC Deb 29 November 1927 vol 211 c237
68. Colonel WOODCOCK

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department the total number of British motor-cars imported by South Africa and Rhodesia for the financial year 1926–27, and the total number imported since that date?

Captain HACKING

During the financial year 1926–27 the number of motor-cars imported into the Union of South Africa from the United Kingdom was 1,532. During the four months April to July, 1927, the number so imported was 410. As regards Rhodesia, I regret that information is not available for the financial year. The latest information available relates to the calendar year 1926, when the imports into Southern Rhodesia were 98 motor-cars and into Northern Rhodesia 22 motor-cars, three of the latter being probably included in the previous totals.
