HC Deb 26 May 1927 vol 206 c2172
64. Sir F. HALL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many diplomatic passports have been issued to the wives or other relatives of members of the Soviet delegation in this country; and whether such passports carry with them any diplomatic privileges?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Austen Chamberlain)

No diplomatic passports have been issued by His Majesty's Government either to members of the Soviet diplomatic mission or the Soviet trade delegation in this country. If my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind diplomatic visas, these have been issued to six of the wives of members of the staff of the Soviet diplomatic mission; these ladies are entitled to diplomatic privilege irrespective of whether diplomatic passports are issued to them by their own Government or not.
