HC Deb 05 May 1927 vol 205 c1751
26. Sir J. POWER

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total estimated expenditure during the current year in respect of all transient expenditure and liquidation of War commitments, and the estimated total of such expenditure during each of the next three years?

Mr. CHURCHILL

My hon. Friend will find the main remanet War and expiring charges for 1927 (other than the continuing liability for War pensions) grouped in Class IX of the Civil Estimates at a net total of £786,510. There are a few other items in other parts of those Estimates, but these would not amount to more than £150,000. A sum of £276,800 is provided for terminal War charges on Army and Air Force Votes. I cannot give a precise estimate of the future expenditure at present, but no substantial variation in the largest. Vote (Australian Zinc Concentrates) is to be anticipated until the War time contracts governing the service expire in 1930.
