§ 80. Colonel DAYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will introduce legislation to make it compulsory for every individual or company to put a 2d. stamp on any voucher which is in 1647 the nature of an acknowledgment or receipt of payment for an amount of two pounds or over?
§ Mr. McNEILLI can add nothing to the reply which I gave the hon. Member on the 11th November last on a question relating to the Receipt Stamp Duty.
§ Colonel DAYWill the right hon. Gentleman tell me whether the Government have any powers, and, if so, whether they will enforce them, in order to make people put a stamp on a voucher just in the same way as a small trades man is bound to do?
§ Mr. McNEILLThe hon. Member will find all the necessary information set out in the answer to which I have referred him.
§ Colonel DAYIs the right hon. Gentleman not aware that many thousands of these vouchers are going out without having any stamp on them?
§ Mr. McNEILLI am quite well aware of the hon. Member's views on the subject.
