HC Deb 14 March 1927 vol 203 c1647
81. Colonel DAY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if, in view of the fact that it is estimated that £6,000,000 per year is paid to American film producers for the hire of films in England, and a sum of approximately £2,000,000 per year is paid for royalties to American and foreign play producers, he will consider the introduction of a tax on this source of revenue?

Mr. McNEILL

My right hon. Friend is unable to anticipate his Budget statement, but I must not be taken as accepting the figures mentioned in the question.
