HC Deb 01 June 1927 vol 207 cc385-6
61. Mr. CHARLES EDWARDS

asked the Secretary for Mines whether he can give the financial position of the South Wales Permanent Fund and the number of dependants still on the books; whether these have been paid up to date or, if not, up to what date; and what are the future prospects for financing these dependants?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Colonel Lane Fox)

I am informed that this fund was exhausted last year and that 218 dependants were then still on the books. Over a hundred of these are now receiving relief either from other funds administered by the Monmouthshire and South Wales Miners' Permanent Provident Society or from individual collieries. The rest are at present unprovided for, but I understand that the society is continuing its efforts to get relief for them.
