HC Deb 01 June 1927 vol 207 c386
62. Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the cost per pair of white gauntlets now worn by the Metropolitan Police Force on point duty; and if the present pattern of gauntlets has been found satisfactory and efficient?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

An extended trial is being given to a type of white gauntlet costing 2s. 8d. a pair. This has proved the most satisfactory of the types already tried and seems likely to prove entirely suitable.

Colonel DAY

Are these gauntlets being isued to policemen on point duty all over the metropolitan police area?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

No, that would be to assume that they are completely successful. But they are being tried on an extensive scale.
