asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that the Workmen's Compensation Acts are not in force in British Guiana; and whether, in view of the fact that a recent ordinance applied provisions of the British law in Trinidad and that the conditions in Trinidad and British Guiana are similar, he will take steps to secure the application of this law in the latter Colony?

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Conditions in British Guiana differ considerably from those in Trinidad, but when I have had an opportunity of estimating the effects of this legislation in the latter Colony upon all concerned I shall be ready to consider whether the enactment of a similar Measure could properly he suggested to the Government of British Guiana.
