HC Deb 27 July 1927 vol 209 c1245
63. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in connection with the assault on a native reported recently by Archdeacon Owen, he will consider favourably the printing of information on the native passes, informing them that they can sue for damages for unjustified assault?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

In accordance with his promise to the right hon. and gallant Member on the 2nd of May, my right hon. Friend communicated with the Acting Governor in regard to Archdeacon Owen's statement. No reply has yet been received, and until one has been received I am unable to say what action if any may be considered desirable or practicable.
