HC Deb 26 April 1927 vol 205 c671
49. Mr. W. M. WATSON

asked the Minister of Labour the number of miners registered as unemployed in the County of Fife; and how many are in receipt of unemployment benefit at the latest available date?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. Betterton)

At 21st March, 1927, the number of insured persons classified as belonging to the coal mining industry recorded as unemployed in the County of Fife was 4,403. Of these, 3,972 had claims to unemployment benefit current at that date, but I am unable to say how many were in receipt of benefit.
