§ 60. Sir BASIL PETOasked the Minister of Health whether he can give the terms of reference to the Committee appointed to inquire into the registration of opticians?
§ Sir K. WOODTie terms of reference will be "to consider the Optical Practitioners (Registration) Bill, and to make recommendations."
§ Sir B. PETOMay I ask whether all the bodies and organisations representing optical practitioners will have the opportunity of giving evidence before this Committee; and, secondly, whether it is proposed to give any Government facilities for the Bill down for Second Heading on the 13th May pending the report of this Committee?
§ Sir K. WOODThe answer to the first question is, I think that would be a matter for the Committee themselves to decide. With regard to the second question, J take it that it would be largely dependent upon whether the Committee have reported on the terms of the Bill by that time.
§ Sir K. WOODThat is an entirely different matter. If my hon. Friend will put down a question, I will reply.
§ Colonel WEDGWOODMay I ask whether anybody who represents the public is on the Committee or will give evidence before it?
§ Sir K. WOODI hope so.
