HC Deb 23 March 1926 vol 193 c1032
70. Mr. BROAD

asked the Postmaster-General the present position of the Post Office (London) Tube Railway, when it is expected that it will be available for full service, what was the original estimated cost, and what has been the total cost to date?

Viscount WOLMER

The permanent way has been completed; the bulk of the electrical plant has been manufactured, and its installation is proceeding rapidly. It is anticipated that the railway will be available for traffic in the autumn. The sum provided under the Post Office (London) Railway Act, 1913, was £1,100,000; the sum expended to date is £1,411,000.

Sir F. HALL

Have the Department disposed of the obsolete plant at Black-friars?

Viscount WOLMER

Yes, Sir.
