HC Deb 22 June 1926 vol 197 c249
53. Mr. DENNISON

asked the Minister of Health whether the Teignmouth Urban District Council have yet taken any steps to formulate a housing scheme, and with what result; and, if not, whether, in view of the urgent need of houses in this district, he will approach the council in the matter?

Sir K. WOOD

My right hon. Friend has been in communication with the council on the matter. They have formulated a scheme for assisting private enterprise in the erection of houses for letting, and I understand they are at present negotiating with local builders.

Mr. DENNISON

May we expect that the local council will take immediate steps to build these houses?

Sir K. WOOD

Yes, Sir; I understand that is so, and I believe they are now negotiating with the builders for that purpose.
