HC Deb 15 December 1926 vol 200 cc2933-4
Mr. J. HUDSON

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister whether he authorised the alteration in the OFFICIAL REPORT of his statement in the Vote of Censure Debate, on the 8th December, that in certain eventualities the Leader of the Opposition would have had with him a large number of the Members of Parliament who are now with the Prime Minister.

The PRIME MINISTER

Until my attention was drawn to it by the hon. Member, I had not seen any report of my speech either in the OFFICIAL REPORT or in the Press.

Mr. HUDSON

May I then take it that the report which appeared in the "Times," that "a large number of those who are now with me" may be used by us as correctly expressing the Prime Minister's view at the time he spoke in the House of Commons, and made a gesture?

Mr. SPEAKER

This is a question of a newspaper report. 1 do not think we can touch the report of the "Times" or any other newspaper.

Mr. HUDSON

Might I ask the Prime Minister whether he will complain if we use reports of his speech other than the OFFICIAL REPORT, which, in our judgment and recollection, does not represent actually what he said.
