HC Deb 15 December 1926 vol 200 c2934
Mr. HUGH O'NEILL

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister whether, in connection with the proposal-to amend the King's Title, consideration has also been given to the question of amending the title of Parliament?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, Sir; the point has been considered, and when legislation is introduced next Session to enable the contemplated change in the King's Title to be effected, the Government will take the opportunity of proposing that the title of Parliament should in future be "The Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."

Sir JOHN MARRIOTT

May I ask my right hon. Friend if the same style and title will apply to His Majesty the King as to Parliament?

The PRIME MINISTER

I should not like to give an answer to that question without notice.
