HC Deb 19 November 1925 vol 188 c569
33. Mr. FORREST

asked the Minister of Health the number of instances in which he has refused to sanction housing schemes submitted by local authorities and the reasons f r such refusals?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have in a number of instances been unable to approve schemes submitted by local authorities where the prices appeared to be unreasonably high and in other instances advised local authorities to limit their immediate building programme to such number of houses as can be built with the available labour and materials at an early date. It is not practicable to state the number of instances in which action on these lines has been taken, but if the hon. Member has any particular case in view I shall be pleased to look into it.
