HC Deb 18 November 1925 vol 188 c386
69. Mr. BARNES

asked the Minister of Labour when the results of his inquiry into the conditions in the grocery and provisions trade will be published?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I propose, as soon as I am in a position to do so, to publish a summary of the results of the inquiries into the grocery and certain other distributive trades.

Mr. BARNES

Can the right ton. Gentleman say when this inquiry will be completed?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

The first results are in my hands at the moment, and I hope to be going through them this afternoon in order to get them forward as quickly as I can.

Mr. A. V. ALEXANDER

Will the right hon. Gentleman report directly to the House, without reference to anybody else?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

I am not quite certain that I apprehend what the hon. Member means, but certainly I propose to report to the House.

Mr. ALEXANDER

Does the right hon. Gentleman propose to report to the House, before referring the report of his Department either to the employers or to the employed?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

Yes, Sir.
