HC Deb 18 November 1925 vol 188 cc385-6
66. Mr. HARMSWORTH

asked the Prime Minister whether he will find time this Session for the introduction of a Bill to amend the Trade Union Acts by declaring unofficial strikes and sympathetic strikes illegal, and rendering persons found guilty of organising such strikes liable to imprisonment?

The PRIME MINISTER

No, Sir. The time of the House this Session is already over-mortgaged.

Mr. HARMSWORTH

Will the Prime Minister consider the advisability of introducing legislation, either next Session or immediately, if the industrial situation demands?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am afraid that is a hypothetical question.

Mr. DIXEY

Have the Government any intention of introducing a Trade Union Political Levy Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

The hon. Member had better wait for the King's Speech.

Captain BENN

Does the Prime Minister propose to ignore the resolutions passed on this subject by the Unionist Conference?
