§ Captain HACKINGMy right hon. Friend is informed that sulphate of ammonia is not manufactured from Chili saltpetre, and any process of the kind would be commercially impracticable. Chili saltpetre, better known as nitrate of soda, is largely imported for agricultural and other purposes, but my right hon. Friend regrets that he is not in a position to give the names of the firms by whom it is handled.
