§ 20. Sir B. FALLEasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he is aware that 15 per cent. of the requests of the Welfare Committee were answered with a direct negative as final, and the Committee was directed not to repeat the questions; and, in view of the fact that of the 6 per cent. of the requests granted three were permissions to certain ratings to wear an additional button or white shoes, or have a ventilating hole in cap, at the expense of the rating, if it is intended to dissolve the Committee?
Mr. DAVIDSONWith regard to the first part of the question, the figure of 15 per cent. is approximately correct, and these requests are not to be repeated. As regards the second part, I am not aware how my hon. Friend arrives at his figure of 6 per cent., but there is no present intention of discontinuing the system of Welfare Conferences.
