HC Deb 29 July 1925 vol 187 cc407-8
14 and 15. Mr. W. BAKER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty (1) whether it is proposed to make any reduction in the pay of the men in the Royal Fleet Reserve and the Royal Naval Reserve, if and when called up for duty;

(2) whether it is proposed to reduce the pay of the lower deck in the Navy; and whether an opportunity will be afforded to the House to express an opinion before any reduction in the pay of the Navy is made?

Mr. DAVIDSON

Under the existing Regulations R.F.R. and R.N.R. men called up receive the substantive pay of the corresponding ratings on active service in the Royal Navy. As regards the general question of the reduction of pay, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply of the 6th May to the hon. and gallant Member for North Portsmouth (Sir B. Falle) (OFFICIAL REPORT, 6th May, column 925), and that of the Prime Minister of the 8th July to the hon. and gallant Member for South Hackney (Captain Garro- Jones) (OFFICIAL REPORT, 8th July, column 413–4).
