HC Deb 27 July 1925 vol 187 cc27-8
48. Mr. HURD

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the Meston Committee, appointed as far back as 1921 to deal with percentage grants, has not yet considered its Report; and, seeing how close a bearing this question has upon economy in the public services, if he will inquire if the Report of the Committee can be expedited?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY

to the TREASURY (Mr. Guinness): I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for York (Sir J. Marriott) on the 23rd July.

Mr. HURD

May I ask whether, as a matter of fact, it is not a different question?

Mr. GUINNESS

It was exactly this question. The answer was that the Report is in draft.
