Mr. MONTAGUEasked the Homo Secretary whether he is aware that certain Justices of the Peace in London have been requested from official quarters to state at what times it would be convenient for them to attend court for the enrolment of special constables; whether this has been done at the instance of his Department; and, if so, what is the purpose of this proceeding?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSThe answer to the first two parts of the question is in the negative; the third does not arise. I asked the hon. Member, who put this, or a similar question, to me last week, if he would give me any particulars of the alleged incident, and, if so, I should be very glad to make inquiries. I have not received anything of the kind.
