HC Deb 23 July 1925 vol 186 cc2384-5
17. Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the recommendations of the Committee which reported on the prevention of accidents in the shipbuilding industry that young persons under the age of 16 years shall not be employed at work on vessels above ground level for the first six months of their employment, nor for a further six months unless under the supervision of some responsible person, have been carried into effect; and if such order has been made?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir William Joynson-Hicks)

The recommendations in question have been embodied in a revised Code of Regulations for Shipbuilding which has been prepared to give effect to the Committee's proposals. These Regulations are in draft only at present, and, in accordance with the procedure laid down in Section 80 of the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901, are subject to the consideration of any objections received within the prescribed period.
