HC Deb 22 July 1925 vol 186 cc2182-3
18. Colonel DAY

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether any decision has yet been reached in the matter of the payment of marriage allowance to officers in the Navy?

21. Major HORE-BELISHA

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the Government has reached a decision as to whether or not the sum of money voted for officers' marriage allowance in the Royal Navy is to be spent?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I regret that I am not yet in a position to make any statement.

Colonel DAY

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that a great many of the officers concerned consider that they are suffering great injustice through no concession being made?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

Yes.

Major HORE-BELISHA

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that much difficulty is arising through this delay. Would it not be perfectly simple to say something one way or the other?

Mr. HARRIS

Is it possible for the Government to make up their minds about anything?

Colonel DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether we shall have a reply before the Recess?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I hope there will be a reply very soon.
