HC Deb 22 July 1925 vol 186 c2182
17. Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that about 90 men have received notice of dismissal from Pembroke Dockyard; and whether, in view of the present industrial conditions, efforts will be made to retain these men in employment?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Davidson)

Workmen to the number of 83 were entered for a particular job and were informed on entry that their employment was of a temporary nature. The work having been completed it was necessary to discharge 66 of them as their services were no longer required, and no provision for their retention has been made in Navy Votes.
