HC Deb 03 August 1925 vol 187 cc946-7
25. Mr. CECIL WILSON

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that the Sheffield Corporation is relaying the tramway lines in Attercliffe; that a number of men who have applied at the Attercliffe Exchange for employment on this work have been told that it is relief work, and that they must apply to the guardians; that, on applying to the guardians, they were referred back to the Attercliffe Exchange; that this Exchange then referred them to the Sheffield Exchange; that when they applied there they were told to apply at the town hall; that on applying at the town hall they were told that vacancies were filled at the Sheffield Exchange; whether he can state why there is so much confusion at the Sheffield Exchanges; and whether any steps can be taken and, if so, what to prevent the recurrence of such confusion?
