asked the Minister of Transport what further allocation of funds will be made to rural district councils during the current financial year to assist them in the improvement of the roads in their areas?

Mr. GOSLING

It is proposed to allocate immediately a further sum of £1,000,000 towards the improvement of important roads in rural areas in England and Wales.

Will it be allocated at once?

Yes.

Is any help to be given for the ordinary rural district roads?
