HC Deb 01 August 1923 vol 167 cc1461-2
41. Mr. PENNEFATHER

asked the Minister of Labour if his attention has been drawn to a resolution in regard to Merseyside scaler boys, passed at a special meeting of the Liverpool Juvenile Organisation Committee on the 23rd July; and, if so, whether he can make any statement on the subject?

Mr. BETTERTON

My right hon. Friend has received a resolution from the Liverpool Juvenile Organisations Committee welcoming the draft scheme, which he has had circulated for their consideration and for the consideration of the employers and the trade unions concerned. With regard to the second part, of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Birkenhead, East, on the 25th July. I would add that a letter has now been received from the local branch of the National Amalgamated Union of Labour, the trade union concerned, expressing their willingness to co-operate in the scheme.
