HC Deb 24 July 1922 vol 157 c29
78. Mr. PENNEFATHER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies since what date Glenties, county Donegal, has been occupied by Free State troops; if any of the Ulster special constables recently released were in captivity at that place and, if so, the date they were liberated?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Churchill)

I have no information as to the date since when Glenties has been in the possession of the Free State troops, or as to whether any of the kidnapped special constables who have recently been released were at any time held in custody at that place. It has recently been reported to me, however, that a special constable, who has not yet been released, is being held somewhere in the Glenties district, and I have communicated this information to the Provisional Government, who are making inquiries into the matter.
