HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2230
60. Mr. CHADWICK

asked the Prime Minister if he can state the intentions of the Government with reference to the Unemployment Insurance Bill, more especially in view of the considerable changes affected in Committee since the measure was first drafted?

The MINISTER of LABOUR (Dr. Macnamara)

I have been asked to reply to this question. The Government regard it as most important that this Bill should be passed into Law this Session. The course to be adopted, with regard to the important changes made in Commitee, is receiving careful consideration.

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

Will the right hon. Gentleman give favourable consideration to the suggestion to leave the Clause dealing with friendly societies to a free vote of the House?

Dr. MACNAMARA

All relevant considerations will be most carefully considered.
