HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 cc2229-30
59. Mr. NEIL MACLEAN

asked the Prime Minister whether any decision on the question of Montenegro was reached at the San Remo Conference; if not, will he explain the delay in dealing with this matter; whether he is aware that the people of Montenegro demand only the evacuation of their country by the Serbian troops in order that they may have the opportunity of freely determining their own future; and whether this matter will be considered at the next Allied Conference?

Mr. BONAR LAW

No decision was reached in regard to the Adriatic question generally at San Remo; but a settlement is expected shortly as the outcome of negotiations now proceeding between the Italian and the Serb-Croat-Slovene Governments. It will then—but not until then—be possible to take steps for determining the status of Montenegro as part of the Serb-Croat-Slovene Kingdom.
