HC Deb 23 February 1920 vol 125 cc1296-7
60. Lieut.-Colonel MURRAY

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the recommendations of the Rural Transport (Scotland) Committee, 1919, regarding the extensions of the Great North of Scotland Railway to Braemar and Strathdon, and the Allargue and Glen Feshie road improvement and construction schemes; and whether the recommendations of the Committee are receiving his sympathetic consideration?

Sir E. GEDDES

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The Report of the Rural Transport (Scotland) Committee, together with the recommendation of the Secretary for Scotland thereon which have now been received, are being very carefully considered by this Ministry. As regards road transport improvement, if and when funds are available for the purpose, applications from highway authorities for grants in aid of the road improvement and construction schemes recommended in the Report will receive sympathetic consideration.

Dr. MURRAY

Is the right hon. Gentleman considering the coastal traffic proposal?

Sir E. GEDDES

My attention has not been particularly drawn to it.

Dr. MURRAY

It is in the Report.
