HC Deb 12 February 1920 vol 125 c205
23. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the Minister of Health, whether he is aware that the inquiry to be held by his department into the extension of the borough boundaries of Stoke and Nowcastle-under-Lyme has been fixed for a day when Newcastle-under-Lyrne are unable to secure the attendance of their counsel; whether he is aware that the councils of Newcastle and Wolstanton, as well as the trades and labour council, have asked for an adjournment of the inquiry; and whether, in view of those circumstances, he will postpone the inquiry so that both sides may be properly represented and public opinion in the locality satisfied.

Dr. ADDISON

I understand that arrangements have now been made for counsel to appear on behalf of the councils referred to.

Colonel WEDGWOOD

That is to say the date has been postponed?

Dr. ADDISON

No. I think not. Arrangements have been made to attend on the date of the inquiry.
