HC Deb 19 November 1919 vol 121 c891
15. Mr. LAMBERT

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what was the total cost, including guns, ammunition, and stores, of the "Hood"; what is the estimated annual cost of maintenance of this ship; and what is the sum due to the contractors for the non-completion of the ships of a similar type ordered but not completed?

Mr. LONG

The estimated total cost of the "Hood," including guns, ammunition, and stores, is £6,025,000. The estimated annual cost of maintenance in full commission is £539,000. As regards the ships ordered but subsequently cancelled, payment will be made of the ascertained cost of the work actually done, with the addition of a reasonable profit.

Mr. LAMBERT

When does the right hon. Gentleman expect to know the sum which will have to be paid for ships ordered but not completed?

Mr. LONG

I could not say that. I do not know if the right hon. Gentleman put it on the Paper that I could give an answer at the present stage.
